2004 Marathon of the Palm Beaches - Official Supplier An Astounding Feat for a First-Year Event The Marathon of the Palm Beaches had everything it needed to be a stunning success. With an elite field of 20 world-class runners and a capacity field of 3,500 “regular” runners, the race had a spirit and an energy all its own. As the course traversed the scenic waterfront through West Palm Beach, Lake Worth and Riviera Beach, the runners left a trail of compliments in their wake. “Great scenery!” “Terrific volunteers and community support” and “Well organized” were the prevailing post-race sentiments. Kenya’s Charles Kibiwot won the men’s marathon and Russia’s Olga Bylinkina the women’s marathon. They were the first to christen a new tradition of celebrating with caviar and champagne after they cross the finished line. |
